Our Story

Nine years ago I decided I wanted to help people in my community and I wanted to have fun doing it.  So I started what we call the East County Night Out, in the first year we had 50 people attend and we raised a little money the best part was it was a night to remember.  I thought, “This is great, we could do this again.”  Eight years later we are still holding our annual event and in 2006 we had over 500 attend, and raised over $90,000.00.

For the first six years I donated the money to an organization called Center for Community Solutions.  This organization dedicates their work to helping battered women and children.  Our money went to their program for transitional housing.  I wanted to help people who were willing to help themselves.  In six years we donated over $300,000 and helped over 100 women and children.  In year seven we expanded and decided to help Set Free Facilities, this year was incredible we not only raised over $70,000 to give them for such things as Family Restoration Program, Men and Women’s Training Center, Special Projects and Vouchers for Domestic Violence. We also built them a $250,000 Daycare Center in 12 hours, 300 workers, 1 vision, and all the material and labor were donated.  This facility is used by an estimated 70 children throughout the year.

In 2006 I along with 49 of my closest friends decide to start our own non profit organization, The East County Posse, our mission is to improve the lives of fellow East County residents in desperate need of help.  In our first year of establishment we raised over $90,000 and have already helped a number of people from Alana, a sixteen year old who is paralyzed from the neck down.  We reconstructed her home to better meet her needs.  We also provided the children of Set Free with new school clothes and supplies.  We’ve helped a very deserving gentleman purchase a handicapped van so that he may be able to get around more comfortably.  We have even purchased sports apparel for a low income little league team.  Currently, other ventures are in the works and The Posse in on the move.

Our goal is to help as many people as we can in our community and have fun while we do so.  We are built up of men and women who dedicate their lives to helping others.  Our members come from diverse backgrounds and professions.   Please let us know if you know anyone who could use our help, we want to make a difference in people’s lives.

If you want to help you can participate in any of our events, East County Night Out, ECP Poker Tournament, or our Harley Rides.  We THANK YOU all for your support and donations and look forward to the years to come.

Sincerely,

Greg Brown
